If your life were a movie what classification would you give it? What would it look like? Would it be a low budget film, that you can hardly continue watching but you are sucked in and now have to see the ending, or would it be Oscar worthy? If your life is like most it would probably fall into each film category there is.
Lately I have been doing a great deal of thinking and my thoughts have been having me reflect upon my life. Sometimes my story was a wild ride, sometimes full of romance, definitely a bit of comedy, and at times an Oscar winning horror film. How many times would it have to be cut for a do over?
I could tell you my life story and how it began 52 years ago, the youngest of nine children, growing up in beautiful up sate New York, but it could turn into a mini series. I simply want to have you reflect and myself as well, on where you have been, where you are going, where you wish to be. What you want your story to look like.
In the book Not Quite what I was planning: Six-Word memoirs by writers Famous and Obscure, famous and not so famous writers were asked to provide their life stories in six word sentences. They responded with funny , sad, and often poignant quotes that are a short record or chronicle of their lives. Here are some of those quotes;
Life Sentence
"Looked for answers; found new questions." ~ Kay Dennison
"Revenge is living well, without you." ~ Joyce Carol Oates
"Wasn't born a redhead: fixed that." ~ Anonymous
"Revenge is living well, without you." ~ Joyce Carol Oates
"Wasn't born a redhead: fixed that." ~ Anonymous
Life Sentence
"Found true love, married someone else." ~ Anonymous
"Followed white rabbit. Became black sheep." ~ Anonymous
"I'm 10 and have additude." ~ Anonymous
"Followed white rabbit. Became black sheep." ~ Anonymous
"I'm 10 and have additude." ~ Anonymous
Life Sentence
"29 Years Old, Still Playing Lego."
I like to see my life as more of a story than a sentence. Somehow I am not certain that just 1 sentence can sum up a whole life of lessons at least for me but then I like to really T.H.I.N.k things through although being spontaneous is also fulfilling.
If I can have more than 1 six word sentence it may look like this:
- "Life has really sucked at times"
- "My life has been really Blessed"
- " Give me a song to sing"
- "My favorite job is a mom"
- "Why can't I have it all?" oops that is a question
- "I try to be my best"
- "I know that isn't always so"
- "I know I am always forgiven"
So what kind of movie would your life be? What 6 words sum up your life?
As my family changes, grows, adding grandchildren to the mix I think about what I want to leave them. What I want them to remember the most about me. I want my life with them to look like a great movie they enjoy being a part of.
I want them to know that my movie only has a great ending because the director is Jesus.
